Running Scared Costume Run for Special Olympics

Join the McHenry Police Department in the first annual Running Scared event for Special Olympics Illinois.  This is a costume 5K run and a 2 mile family fun run/walk being held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 8:30 AM.  This event will start and finish at the beautiful Shamrock Farms Park in McHenry and the course runs through the Legend Lakes Subdivision.  This course offers low traffic, a paved running surface and several water stations. The run portion of the event will be timed and there will be a finish line Halloween Celebration for all the participants at Shamrock Park .  Photos of the event will be taken and shared here on the website. 

All event participants will receive a race day T-Shirt and goodie bag and be registered for a door prizes drawing.  Wear a costume while participating in this event and get an entry into a special prize drawing with an assortment of great prized and the grand prize of a new Kindle Fire!

Pre-register for the event to ensure you receive an event T-shirt in your correct size.  Event registration is available in person at the McHenry Police Department, online at or on race day starting at 7 am at Shamrock Farms Park, McHenry, Illinois. This park is located in the Legend Lakes Subdivision.

All monies raised from this event go directly to Special Olympics Illinois.  Come out and join us for this fun family event. Bring your friends and don't forget to wear a costume to be eligible for the special prize drawing at the f.inish line party!
